Special Permit States
**Although you may have all 48 states on your tag, there are certain states that require you to obtain a "Special Permit," in order to run in their states.**
- Kentucky - Required if over 60,000 lbs and you MUST file quarterly fuel taxes. The permit for their state has no expiration.However, if you do not file quarterly fuel taxes on time, they will revoke your permit and it is very costly to reinstate. They will request a $500.00 bond to reinstate if you do not keep up with it as required.
- New York - Required if you are running over 18,000 lbs. You do have to file quarterly fuel taxes on time. Permit expires every 3 years. (Ex. 2018, 2021, 2024, 2027).
- New Mexico - Required if you are running over 26,000 lbs. You must file with your quarterly fuel taxes on time. Permit is annual so it much be renewed at the end of each year.
